Saudi Arabian ambassador in Doha Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan al-Saud has stressed the depth of the historical, fraternal, and kinship ties that bind the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The ties are based on solid foundations of love, appreciation, mutual respect, co-operation, and common interest, the ambassador said.
This came in a speech delivered by Prince Mansour during a ceremony held on Tuesday night by the Saudi embassy on the Kingdom's 92nd National Day.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali, HE the Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem al-Ghanem, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Abdullah al-Thani, HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani, HE the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Staff Lieutenant General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad al-Nabit and a number of Sheikhs and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country attended the ceremony.
The Saudi ambassador explained that last December's official visit of Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud to Qatar and his meeting with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and their fruitful discussions as well as the positive results of this visit are an affirmation of the positive path and the distinguished level reached by the relations of the two brotherly countries, under the guidance and follow-up of the leaderships of the two countries.
The successive visits of the official Saudi delegations to Qatar at the ministerial and other levels and in various sectors are also a witness to the momentum and active movement witnessed in the relations of the two countries and a bridge for rapprochement, communication, and cooperation between the two brotherly countries. The ambassador expressed his aspiration, after the launch of the work of the Saudi-Qatari Joint Co-ordination Council, to expand areas of co-operation, explore more opportunities, and push bilateral relations to broader horizons and higher and deeper levels to live up to the aspirations of the leadership and people of the two brotherly countries.
He highlighted the additional advantages that link the two countries that are embodied in them being active members of the GCC whose visions converge on many regional and international issues and their common desire to support and enhance the role of the GCC and strengthen cohesion and unity among its members to face various challenges.
Prince Mansour noted Qatar's readiness to host the largest international sporting event, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where the world looks forward with passion and enthusiasm towards this great competition that Qatar has harnessed and prepared all the reasons for its success. He extended his congratulations to Qatar's leadership, government, and people for their tremendous and continuous efforts to make this tournament an exceptional and distinguished event, and for the wonderful infrastructure and high-quality and beautiful stadiums that have been achieved, which will hopefully contribute to the success of the tournament, its atmosphere, and activities.
The ambassador said that Saudi Arabia rejoices in Qatar's hosting of this tournament, provides all support, and is always optimistic about the participation of Saudi's national team in this good land, wishing all success to the brotherly Qatari team and the rest of the participating teams to give beautiful performances that rise to the expectation of this important sporting occasion.
