The Shura Council addressed many vital issues of interest to Qatar and its citizens, in addition to making the appropriate suggestions in their regard during the 35 regular sessions and several committee meetings, HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim Monday said.
In his speech during the closing session of the first regular session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the 50th session of the Shura Council, and on behalf of the council members, he extended tremendous thanks and highest praise and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, for his keenness to support the council by granting it a role in the decision-making process.
HE Speaker reviewed the accomplishments achieved by the council in this regard, which were characterised by constructive actions, discussions and recommendations, in which other state agencies participated.
The council addressed several important topics, whether related to the legislative tools that regulate the affairs of the temporary expropriation and appropriation of real estate for the public benefit, and the regulation of the ownership of real estate in the country by diplomatic and consular missions, or other important issues that concern the citizens such as the two draft laws on social security and military retirement, he said.
The council also discussed proposals related to inflation, the high cost of living, and the increasing financial burdens in society, as well as Qataris' reluctance towards the teaching profession, aspects associated with marriage, Qatari job seekers, and promoting values and national identity, in addition to many other topics, he added, pointing out that the council submitted its proposals regarding those topics to the esteemed government.
He commended the efforts made by the esteemed government, as well as its constructive cooperation with the council in the legislative field, praising the prominent role of the heads of the committees and all members of the Shura Council, for their appreciated efforts in order to achieve the well-being and prosperity of the country and its citizens.
He also commended the role of the various media outlets.
Concluding the closing session, he noted that this term has been a remarkable experience.
HE the speaker concluded his speech by praying for the protection and continuous security and development of the country, under the wise leadership of the Amir.
The Shura Council has held its closing session of the first regular session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the 50th session of the Shura Council.
During the session, the council reviewed the report of its Special Committee Studying Aspects Associated with Marriage.
The council proposed a number of procedures and measures that contribute to limiting these aspects, in addition to setting a maximum limit for the time length of wedding ceremonies.
The council approved a request to extend the work of its Information and Cultural Affairs Committee to study the phenomenon of Qataris' reluctance towards the teaching profession.
Afterwards, HE Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al- Fadhala read out Decree No. 31 of 2022 to adjourn the first regular session of the first legislative term, corresponding to July 5, 2022.
