The sixth meeting of undersecretaries of the ministries concerned with food safety kicked off yesterday at the Secretariat-General of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) headquarters under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia, and with the participation of Qatar. Qatar was represented by Assistant Minister of Public Health for Health Affairs Dr Salih al-Marri. During the meeting a range of vital topics pertaining to Gulf food safety were discussed, including GCC Guide for Control on Imported Foods, GCC Unified Food Law, Certificate of Origin for national industrial products among GCC countries, efforts of GCC countries in partnering with other countries in celebrating World Food Safety Day, in addition to discussing a wide range of relevant important topics.
The participants in the meeting hailed the joint Gulf action represented in the strenuous efforts of the Secretariat General of the Gulf Co-operation Council, permanent technical committees, and work teams operating under the umbrella of GCC in the pursuit of Gulf co-ordination and organisational work.
