Sultan bin Rashid al-Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on Monday met with Stephan Weil, Minister President of Lower Saxony in Germany, as part of Qatar's participation in the Hannover Messe International Industrial Fair 2022. During the meeting, the officials discussed prospects for joint co-operation at all levels and ways to develop them. The two sides touched on the co-operation between Qatar and Germany, especially the state of Lower Saxony, in the commercial, industrial, and investment fields. They discussed ways to take additional steps to enhance and develop economic co-operation between both sides’ private sectors, to serve the common interests of the two nations. During the meeting, al-Khater highlighted the successful economic policies Qatar has put in place to support the private sector, and pointed out the incentives, legislations, and promising opportunities available in Qatar that are aimed at encouraging German investors, businessmen, and business owners to invest in the country. Qatar and Germany have strong economic and trade relations, positively reflecting in the volume of trade between the two countries. The volume of trade between Qatar and Germany amounted to $3.15bn in 2021, and Germany ranks as Qatar’s tenth trading partner.
Moreover, Qatar is home to about 323 German companies operating in various economic fields.
