The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) will celebrate the World Intellectual Property Day on Wednesday, which aims to enhance the protection of property rights, widely disseminate them, and achieve the desired benefit from them.
This year’s theme is ‘IP & Youth: Innovating for a Better Future’.
Taking place at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel, the celebration includes two discussion sessions tackling the role of government and semi-governmental agencies in supporting intellectual property (IP) and youth, in addition to showcasing success stories of a number of Qatari youth, creators, and inventors, with the participation of the Qatar Scientific Club and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, as well as a number of innovators, inventors, and individuals interested in intellectual property.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has invited intellectual property agents, lawyers, the honourable public, as well as individuals interested in IP to attend the celebration organised at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel (Al Areen Hall), starting at 9am tomorrow (May 25).
It is noteworthy that the celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day has been taking place annually since 2000 with the aim of spreading the IP culture, raising awareness of it, and increasing respect of IP rights.
The celebration activities aim to educate the public and encourage them to innovate, in terms of patents, artistic and literary works, trademarks and other areas included under IP rights.
