Qatar National Library ( QNL) held the first day of the ‘Libraries Lead’ forum on Monday. The two-day forum brings together library professionals to foster initiatives to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Agenda.
HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kawari, Minister of State and President of QNL, opened the forum with a welcome speech followed by opening sessions and a panel discussion with key speakers, including Tan Huism, executive director of QNL, Barbara Lison, president of the International Federation of Library Associations ( IFLA) and Institutions, Dr Jamal al-Yafei, assistant director of Strategic Planning, Planning and Statistics Authority, Qatar, Dr Imad Bachir, IFLA chair of Mena Regional Division, Dr Clara Chu, director of the Mortenson Centre for International Library Programmes and Farida Aboudan, programme specialist of the Unesco Office for the Gulf Countries and Yemen.
Additional sessions will be held on the second day of the forum to discuss several topics with representatives from local and international entities advocating SDGs.
