Marriott International is celebrating today (April 27) the eleventh edition of its ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative at participating hotels in the Middle East, including twelve in Qatar.
During the hour of Iftar on Tuesday, cab drivers who drive through the main entrances of the Le Royal Meridien Doha and Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel will receive complimentary Iftar packs to break their fast.
Catering teams at both the hotels and 10 other Marriott International Doha-based properties have prepared Iftar packs, which include a diverse selection of food and beverage items.
This year, participating Marriott International properties in Qatar will plan to personally distribute over 1,000 Iftar packs to cab drivers. The ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative was launched in 2010.
“The initiative embodies the spirit of the holy month, and we are extremely proud of our hotel teams who are committed to bring to life this initiative every Ramadan,” said Rick Enders, chair of the Marriott Worldwide Business Council Qatar and cluster general manager for JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, Marriott Executive Apartments City Center Doha, Marriott Marquis City Center Doha.
The ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative falls under Marriott International’s Sustainability and Social Impact Platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
In line with directives from local health authorities and ongoing efforts to safeguard public health, Marriott International properties will implement additional safety measures while organising the initiative and handing over Iftar packs to cab drivers. Hotels providing team support to the Iftar for Cabs initiative at the distribution locations at Le Royal Meridien Doha and Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Center Hotel include: Al Messila, A Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa; Four Points by Sheraton Doha; JW Marriott Marquis City Center Doha; Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha; Sharq Village & Spa, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Doha; St Regis Doha; Westin Doha; Marriott Executive Apartments City Center; and W Doha.
