Qatar University (QU) welcomed the Argentinian team’s selection of the QU campus as their accommodation for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The Argentinian team is part of the third group, which includes Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. The Argentinian delegation visited the university and inspected all facilities and stadiums, a QU statement said on Tuesday.
QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham, said, “The University welcomes the Argentinian team's selection of Qatar University as their headquarters. The delegation from the team has visited the university, its sports facilities and housing units. Every facility has the best infrastructure with international specifications.”
QU has opened three sports complexes that provide the opportunity to practice outdoor sports, in addition to the indoor gym for women. These facilities host various sports including football, volleyball, handball, basketball, tennis, swimming, water polo, squash, gyms and many others.
QU is one of the leading institutions of academic and research excellence in the GCC region, the statement pointed out. It provides high quality undergraduate and graduate programmes that prepare competent graduates, primed to shape the future of Qatar. QU's strong relationship with the Qatari society is reflected in its community service efforts and vibrant research portfolio that addresses relevant local and regional challenges, advances national goals towards a knowledge-based economy, and contributes actively to the needs and aspirations of the society, the statement added.
