Al-Aqsa Mosque director Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani has affirmed that the incursions that took place during five consecutive days inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque by force of arms did not and will not give legitimacy to the Israeli entity and settlers, and will not discourage the Palestinian people or the Al-Murabitin from the sacrifice for the sake of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He said in exclusive statements to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the repeated incursions, shootings, rubber bullets, tear gas and other repressive practices indicate the failure of the occupation, adding that the occupying Israeli entity has no right inside the mosque and that Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively Muslim.
Sheikh Omar said that these incursions are an attempt to impose sovereignty and paint the conflict as if it was a religious conflict.
He called on Arab and Islamic countries to unify their demand and take serious decisions that rise to the seriousness of the events taking place inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Sheikh Omar said that the meeting of Arab and Islamic countries in Amman to discuss the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque is a good thing, and stressed the need for immediate action to stop the violations, according to the status quo since 1967, which stipulates that extremists are to be prevented from storming the mosque, and that sovereignty over Al-Aqsa lies in the hands of the Islamic endowments.
He added that if there is no serious position on the part of the Arab and Islamic countries, the Israeli entity will continue in this approach, with incursions and imposition of facts by force of arms and by force of occupation on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Sheikh Omar told QNA that the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque were reopened yesterday, and that worshippers were able to enter to perform their prayer.
