The latest edition of Qatar Strongest Man (QSM) finished on Saturday, with Cristopher Oketch emerging as the winner while Joseph Mohamed Dweidar bagged the second place and Joseph Iroo Ekadeli coming third.
The eight finalists went through five challenges. In Conan’s Wheel, contestants had to lift and carry a 180kg bar on a rotating platform; in Sand Bag Lifting, contestants had to take sand bags off a box and place them on high stands; and in Truck Pulling, athletes had to pull a 6-tonne truck for 25m. The new challengers were Yoke carry and Press medley.

On the sidelines of the competition, hundreds of people enjoyed the entertainment area, where food and beverage outlets were set up for all family members.
Aspire Zone Foundation had allocated a team of physiotherapists and medics from Qatar Red Crescent Society and Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital in Qatar and one of AZF’s members organisations, to ensure the competitors were safe and accommodated for.
