The total sales of locally produced vegetables through the Premium Qatari Vegetables and Qatar Farms programmes amounted to around 694 tonnes in January, the Ministry of Municipality said Wednesday.
Some 414 tonnes were sold through the Premium Qatari Vegetables initiative and 280 tonnes through Qatar Farms. The products of Qatari farms are available in major commercial complexes in Qatar, such as LuLu, Carrefour, Al Meera, Family Food Centre and others, throughout the year. The local product marketing programmes are supervised by the Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Affairs Department, in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The two programmes provide an opportunity to Qatari farmers to display their local production of high-quality Qatari vegetables in consumer complexes at reasonable prices for the consumer without an intermediary.
