As Qatar Environment Day emphasises the nation’s focus on sustainability, students at a Qatar Foundation (QF) school have showcased their efforts to be green ambassadors to HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, vice-chairperson and chief executive of the QF.
The Qatar Academy Doha Green Lab has been created by converting a courtyard at the school, which is part of the QF’s Pre-University Education, into a learning environment where students grow vegetables and learn about biodiversity.

Through the pilot project, the QF aims to inspire children and young people to drive sustainable change and be advocates for environmentally friendly habits, lifestyles, and actions.
Ahead of Qatar Environment Day, HE Sheikha Hind visited the new Education City Micro-Farm, a gardening hub that is home to fruit trees, an indoor educational greenhouse, planting beds for public use, and ability friendly gardening opportunities.
She also visited the QF Employees’ Wellbeing Garden within the 2015 building, a gardening and therapeutic space within the workplace where employees can grow plants and vegetables.
