The Al Shamal Municipality, represented by the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department, during January, carried out 544 periodic inspections of food establishments in the municipality limits. During the checks, a number of violations were issued in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (8) of 1990 regarding human food control.
The health control inspectors, according to an official press statement by the Ministry of Municipality, have intensified the work and focused on the automatic slaughterhouse and the fish market in Ruwais port. A total of 214 carcasses were examined while two of them were completely destroyed and 28 were partially destroyed while three were sent to the central laboratory in order to ensure their safety for human consumption. 97570 kg of fish and 32 kg of stale fish were destroyed. The Health Control Section also continued to implement the necessary precautionary measures in order to ensure the health and safety of all workers in food stores and that they are free from any diseases and their commitment to general hygiene, healthy habits and behaviors. Also, the measures were carried out in order to ensure the cleanliness and sterilisation of these stores on an ongoing basis and the disposal of any waste or waste immediately.
