The General Authority of Customs (GAC) and the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar (CNA-Q) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on co-operation in education, training, programmes development, and research.
The agreement signed on Sunday was based on the commitment by both sides to develop and strengthen ways of joint co-operation in the fields of education, training, and exchange of experience.
The MoU will serve as a platform that makes use of both parties’ capabilities to raise the efficiency of GAC employees, in line with the Qatar National Vision.
The MoU was signed by GAC chairman Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal and CNA-Q president Dr Salem bin Nasser Al-Naemi.
Al-Jamal stated that the MoU meets the requirements for development and the best practices adopted by both parties.
The joint efforts will take the co-operation to the next level and play a vital role in developing human capital, training systems and strengthen knowledge exchange and transfer between both parties.
"Both signatories are particularly known for their extensive experience and their connection with the most reputable training centres at a regional and international level,” al-Jamal said. “As a result, the MoU will be able to provide qualitative and logistical support for the cadres working at the General Authority of Customs."
Dr Al-Naemi said: “The CNA-Q believes in the importance of co-operation, which constitutes the main pillar for growth and development.”
“We believe this MoU will be a driving force for expertise exchange, enriching and developing the skills of students and employees from both sides,” he added.
“Our partnership goes beyond trainings that we will offer to the General Authority of Customs’ employees or the training opportunities that our students will benefit from at our partner’s premises,” Dr Al-Naemi said. “This collaboration includes creating and developing academic programmes and exploring research opportunities.
“This comes in line with the college’s three-year research strategy that will be launched very soon to develop research projects focused on national economic needs.”
Additionally, there will be joint co-ordination in other possible areas of common interest at the state level.
This includes developing the skills of staff handling the organisation of common events and international activities, such as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
