The two foundations are looking to work together on mutually beneficial projects focused on health and sustainability.
During his visit to Education City, Gates was joined by HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, Vice-Chairperson and Chief Executive of the QF.
He gained an overview of the QF ecosystem of education, research and innovation, and community development from the eighth floor viewing balcony at the 2015 building (QF Headquarters).
Gates was also accompanied on the visit by the QF’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University president Dr Ahmad M Hasnah, Sultana Afdhal, the chief executive of the World Innovation Summit for Health, the QF’s global health initiative, and Maryah al-Dafa, the executive director of the QF Vice-Chairperson/Chief Executive’s Office.
Since 2008, Gates has devoted himself full time to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world.
Before that, Gates co-founded Microsoft Corporation in 1975, which went on to become the worldwide leader in business and personal software and services.
