Qatar University (QU) has received a delegation of students participating in the Gulf voyage of the Royal Navy of Oman's 'Shabab Oman II', coinciding with the National Day of Oman. The voyage is as part of Oman's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, under the title 'Oman, a New Approach.' The vessel is to visit all GCC countries over the course of a month.
The cruise include students representing a number of European and Gulf universities. The delegation was received by QU president Dr Hassan bin Rashid al-Derham, vice presidents Dr Khaled al-Khater (Administrative and Financial Affairs), Dr Eman Mostafawi (Student Affairs), Student Life and Services assistant vice president Dr Mohamed Diab, Student Activities Department director Abdullah al-Mulla, and a number of members of the university community. QU campus was the first scheduled stop of the delegation after they left Hamad Port. The visitors were taken on a tour of the campus.
Dr Mostafawi welcomed them and assured about the keenness of QU to consolidate relations and co-operation with international educational institutions and its support for young people at the local, regional and international levels. The Oman embassy also invited a group of QU students to visit the ship at Hamad Port to learn about the various programmes it provides for young people in the field of sailing, astronomy, teamwork, and to inform them the achievements of this trip.
