The Al Shamal Municipality has successfully completed the experimental planting of arak tree in the marshes located along the northern coast within the municipality limits.
According to an official press statement by the Ministry of Municipality, the director of the municipality had asked the specialists in the Department of Services Affairs to experiment with planting a number of Arak trees in the marshes here. One tree was planted as an experiment in each of Sabkhat Al Malha, Sabkhat Al Ghariya, Sabkhat Khasuma, Sabkhat Al Arish, Sabkhat Al Khuwair, and Sabkhat Khaddaj areas. And these trees were monitored on a daily basis. As the results showed their excellent growth, the irrigation process is being gradually stopped so that the trees can rely and adapt to the salinity in these marshes.
