On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care organised a workshop for its employees on 'The art of emotion management is key to mental health.'
Led by self-development coach Jawaher al-Mana the event dealt with the concept and basics of emotional intelligence, as well as self-management and relationship building.
"When a person understands his feelings and emotions, he can manage them correctly and control them instead of being controlled by them. Emotional intelligence contributes 80% to determining whether a person is successful in his life or not, while cognitive intelligence contributes only 20%, according to a Goleman study," she said.
The workshop discussed the concept of self-awareness as the ability to perceive and understand own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, values and motives, and how these factors can influence others. It also discussed ways to motivate oneself, read the feelings of others, and steps to get rid of negative feelings.
