The direct contribution of the local travel and tourism sector to Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to reach QR44.9bn with an 8.7% rise per year from 2018 to 2028.
This number is expected to grow as the country prepares to welcome an influx of visitors for 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to organisers on the second day of Hospitality Qatar 2021, which highlighted the importance of providing great customer experience in the hospitality and tourism sector.
To deliver a holistic experience for tourists and international visitors, Hospitality Qatar is providing a platform for industry professionals to equip themselves with the skills, training, and knowledge needed to ensure a remarkable customer experience.
The second day of the conference, in partnership with Qatar Tourism, themed ‘Delivering a Memorable Customer Experience’, featured a programme organised by Jamil Qureshi, a specialist on the ‘psychology of peak performance’.
Qureshi is one of today’s foremost psychology practitioners, an author and a motivational speaker who has worked with various talented business and sports figures in the world. One of his main focuses was to help teams fulfil their full potentials through performance-enhancing programmes.
Haidar Mshaimesh, general manager of IFP Qatar, said: “The second day’s theme is centred on customer experience and service and is one of the important objectives in the travel and hospitality sector as both deal with customers and clients all the time.
“We aim to help businesses identify solutions and discuss ideas on how to deliver an exemplary experience to local and international visitors. Qatar’s tourism and hospitality sector is gearing up to welcome thousands of tourists next year and this event will help industry professionals to enhance their performance and delivery of customer service.”
The third day is expected to hold an equally informative session on delivering first-class customer service. Participants and visitors are set to witness an exciting award ceremony in partnership with talabat App.
“We are excited to showcase all the features and functions of talabat and to organise the restaurant choice awards – a special awards ceremony to recognise our partners, restaurants, and riders among the talabat network across various categories,” said Moaiad Aqel, head of Sales at talabat.
Over the course of the event, culinary enthusiasts will be entertained with live cooking demonstrations, featuring the best chefs in Qatar as they present innovative recipes and creative culinary skills. In addition, the designated travel and tourism pavilion offers visitors a four-day exhibition of various travel packages and the world’s best tourist destinations.
First launched in 2019 and in partnership with Qatar Airways, the International Tourist Destinations Pavilion showcases various tourist destinations with the participation of 22 countries, including travel agencies and tourism promotion board and councils.
