HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed al-Hammadi stressed that Shura Council elections represent a qualitative leap in the field of legislative work in the country, as it expands popular participation. In remarks made to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he described the day as historic and noted that the Shura Council elections are taking place for the first time since it was established back in 1972.
He added that he has no doubts that the council in its new image will help realise the ambitions and the aspirations of the Qatari people, and will work on conveying the concerns of citizens transparently to decision makers, which will improve the performance of the government.
HE al-Hammadi greeted and thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani on this new move in the journey of sustainable development Qatar. He also thanked and greeted HE the Prime minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, and those overseeing the election process for their distinguished efforts.
The education minister also congratulated the Qatari citizens for their active and positive participation in this democratic process, and for practicing their right freely in choosing their representatives in the Shura Council, and their commitment to ensure the elections come out in the best possible manner.
