As part of the ongoing inspection campaigns to remove abandoned vehicles across the country, a joint operation was launched yesterday at Al Daayen Municipality.
The campaign is being carried out by the mechanical equipment department, and the general cleanliness department in co-operation with Al Daayen Municipality, as part of enforcing the stipulations of law no 18 for 2017 on public hygiene, besides combating harmful practices that negatively impact the local environment and public health.
Hamad bin Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the general control section at Doha municipality and member of the Permanent Committee to remove abandoned vehicles in the country, took part in the campaign alongside Ali Khalid al-Humaidi, head of the general control section at Al Daayen Municipality, and other municipality employees, in addition to the representatives of other concerned entities from the Ministry of Interior and the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya).
Al-Shahwani pointed out that this campaign will continue for two weeks until all the spotted abandoned vehicles are removed after the warning period for their owners expires. He explained that this campaign came after the conclusion of a similar campaign at Al Khor and Al Thakhira, where a good number of abandoned vehicles and equipment were spotted, and some removed by their owners themselves.
The next destination for the campaign will be Al Rayyan municipality. Further, the campaigns will cover other municipalities as well. Al-Humaidi said that once an abandoned vehicle is spotted a warning sticker is pasted, giving a grace period of the three days for the owners to remove it, failing which the vehicle shall be removed by the authorities.
