Asian champions Qatar will take on El Salvador in an international friendly match in Croatia on July 4. The match will take place at the Aldo Drosina Stadium and comes within the framework of both squads preparing for the CONCACAF Gold Cup slotted to kick off next month in the United States of America.
The tournament draw placed Qatar, participating as a guest team for the first time in the competition’s history, in Group D alongside Panama, Grenada and Honduras. In their first match of the tournament, the Asian Cup champions will play against Panama at the BBVA Stadium in Houston.
Qatar, who will be based in Houston, Texas, is the seventh country to be invited to compete in the Gold Cup, the first from the Arab world, and the second to represent the Asian Football Confederation in the competition after South Korea.
