The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Qatar (AMUAAQ), an associate organisation of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) under aegis of the Indian embassy in Qatar, celebrated World Blood Donor Day and organised India@75 (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) blood donation camp in association with the Hamad Medical Corporation Blood Donation Centre.
A large number of donors attended the camp. Many dignitaries and associate members also graced the occasion and donated blood.
S R H Fahmi, first secretary at the Indian embassy, was the chief guest. ICBF vice president Vinod Nair was the guest of honour.
AMUAAQ president Jawed Ahmad thanked the donors for their overwhelming response with the registration of over 125 members of the community. He stressed that blood donation was the best charity for humanity.
He ended his discussion with slogan in Hindi ‘Ek Qadam Raktdaan, Aapke Manvta kee Pehchan Hai’ (One step blood donation, your humanity is recognised”.
S R H Fahmi said to ensure that everyone who needs safe blood has access to it all countries need voluntary donors who donate blood regularly.
Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, chief advisor, AMUAAQ, congratulated the association for making arrangements for the blood donation camp.
AMUAAQ also conducted a special discussion.
Dr Ashna Nusrat, chief co-ordinator, AMUAAQ, briefed members about World Blood Donor Day and emphasised the need for donating blood.
Dr Ashna explained that blood donation is a safe process. Mohamed Faisal Naseem, vice president, and Mohamed Farman Khan, general secretary, highlighted the successful conduct of the camp and announced that AMUAAQ will be organising blood donation camps twice every year.
Farrukh Ali Farooqi, healthcare co-ordinator, and Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash, environment head, also spoke on the occasion.
Jilani appreciated co-ordinators – Farrukh Ali Farooqi, Rizwan Ahmad, Irfan Ansari, Arshad Perwez and the managing committee – Mamnoon Ahmad Bangash, Mohamed Farman Khan (GS), Mohamed Faisal Naseem (VP), Mohamed Irfanullah, Abad Khan, and Dr Ashna Nusrat.
Jawed Ahmad also thanked Sara Jilani for handling the registration process.
Besides Nair, Dinesh Gowda (ICBF), Hassan Arshad, Mohamed Bahauddin Khan, Dr Musharraf Shamim, Mohamed Arif, Ghazala Jilani, Jai Prakash Yadav, Shafqat Nabi, Dr Poonam, Lutfi Kakar (OIA), Khaja Nijamuddin (TWA), Angrez Singh, Junaid Iqbal and other community representatives were present on the occasion.
As a token of appreciation each blood donor and organisation was presented with certificates and a sanitizer from AMUAAQ.
HMC official awarded certificate of appreciation to the association for conducting the blood donation drive.
The AMUAAQ committee thanked Arif, Abdul Khader, Afrin, Arshad and HMC centre staff for their extraordinary support.
