HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari met on Monday with Ranil Jayawardena, UK Minister for International Trade, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.
The meeting was attended by Simon Penney, Her Majesty's Trade Commissioner for the Middle East.
Bilateral trade between Qatar and the United Kingdom amounted to nearly $3bn in 2020. The UK ranks as Qatar’s seventh trade partner.
During the meeting, officials reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of joint co-operation, especially in trade, investment and industrial fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them.
Officials also discussed trade policies between the two countries and the efforts made by both sides in the context of confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, al-Kuwari highlighted the economic policies that Qatar had adopted and its contribution to abolishing restrictions on foreign investment and creating more investment opportunities for companies looking to invest in the country.
