MES Indian School recently observed World No Tobacco Day with the theme, ‘Quit Tobacco to be a Winner.’ Various activities were organised on the virtual mode to emphasise the social responsibility of creating awareness with regard to health hazards caused by smoking and consuming tobacco.
Various competitions and activities such as slogan writing for classes III and IV, collage making for classes V and VI, poster designing for classes VII and VIII and caption writing for classes IX and X were conducted during the co-curricular activity periods. A special assembly was also held virtually to observe the World No Tobacco Day wherein the students gave speeches which was followed by the students’ solemn pledge against the use of tobacco in their life and dissuade people from smoking.
In her address to the students, principal Hameeda Kadar said consumption of tobacco has disastrous impacts not only on the smoker but also on those around. Teachers in charge of the co-curricular activities – Jency George, Mini V and Pradnya Pande – co-ordinated the events. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to encourage the students for their active participation.
