* Financial donation handed over to Indian embassy in Doha

Ooredoo has handed over a donation to the Indian embassy in Doha to help international efforts to aid the country in its fight against the devastating second wave of Covid-19.

With India recording exceptionally high numbers of cases and deaths as the pandemic continues, Ooredoo prioritised offering support to the country with the financial donation as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility, which includes a firm commitment to supporting communities in need, the company said in a statement.

The donation was presented by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, chief commercial officer at Ooredoo, to a representative of the Indian embassy in Doha at the Ooredoo Towers on May 27.

Sheikh Nasser said, “Qatar has a strong, well-established relationship with India and we, at Ooredoo, are dismayed to see the devastating effects as the country experiences a second wave of coronavirus. We applaud the relief efforts under way, and are proud to do whatever we can to support our fellow global citizens in India.

"We hope the many international aid programmes under way bring some much-needed relief as soon as possible, so that the country can recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
