Bangladesh Community Qatar (BCQ) recently organised a virtual Eid reunion. A large number of its community members from different walks of life attended the session.
Mohamed Jassim Uddin, Bangladesh ambassador to Qatar, attended the virtual gathering as the chief guest while Mohammed Mahbur Rahman, counsellor (Political & Economic Affairs), was the special guest. Anwar Hossain Akon, president of BCQ, presided over the meeting.
The Muslims worldwide marked Eid al-Fitr celebrations virtually and people in Qatar were no exception. The speakers on the occasion hoped that Covid-19 will be eradicated from the earth and next year Eid might be celebrated in the formal manner.
The ambassador spoke about the teachings of Ramadan and expressed hope the pandemic will come to an end soon while lauding the Qatar Government for vaccinating expatriates free of cost. Due to the comprehensive measures put in place by the government, Qatar has recorded one of the lowest Covid-19 mortality rates in the world, he added.
The BCQ president urged the community members to abide by the rules, regulations, and restrictions set by the government to drive the pandemic away. Dua (prayer) was held for the community members, who suffered and recovered from Covid-19 and for those who died of the virus. Prayers were also offered for brothers and sisters who died in Gaza due to Israeli air assaults.
