As part of its community initiative 'Shop & Donate', LuLu Hypermarket Qatar has announced its support for Qatar Charity’s (QC) 'Ramadan of Hope' drive for the fourth year in a row.

This support comes in line with a co-operation and partnership agreement signed between QC and LuLu Hypermarket, which allows the two sides to exchange experiences and co-operate and co-ordinate programmes and projects that will be of common interest for the benefit of the society.

LuLu Hypermarket has more than 2,000 items on the shopping list to back Qatar Charity’s Ramadan campaign this year by donating a specific portion of the profits gained by selling these items, QC has said in a press statement.

Ahmed Omar al-Sherawi, head of the Relations and Social Responsibility section at QC, expressed his delight with LuLu’s support for the ‘Ramadan of Hope’ campaign. He thanked the LuLu management for the continued co-operation between the two sides for community and humanitarian services, underling the importance of the partnership between charitable and commercial institutions in promoting humanitarian work.

Al-Sherawi noted that QC is always keen to co-operate with various bodies and organisations from both the public and private sectors within Qatar to implement different projects, urging other companies and organisations to follow the example of LuLu to back Qatar Charity’s 'Ramadan of Hope' drive this year.

“This support from LuLu Hypermarket comes within the framework of our corporate social responsibility (CSR), as we look forward to being an important role player in the social responsibility programmes in collaboration with Qatar Charity, based on the values and traditions of society in the solidarity and co-operation between the various segments,” said Dr Mohamed Althaf, director of LuLu Group International.

He added that such support would also continue in the future in such different seasons, such as Ramadan, to benefit the weaker section of the society and improve their standard of living. In 2020, Qatar Charity received a donation of QR125,000 from LuLu Hypermarket Qatar as part of its ‘Shop & Donate’ drive in support of QC’s Ramadan campaign last year.

Qatar Charity has previously signed a number of co-operation agreements with LuLu Hypermarket Qatar. The first agreement allows customers to donate riyal and dirham fractions when paying purchase bills at various LuLu Hypermarket outlets to support charitable projects within and outside Qatar.

The second agreement promotes Qatar Charity’s Khair Cards through LuLu outlets to promote charity among shoppers, while the third agreement involves a co-operation for the ‘Shop & Donate’ campaign.
