The General Authority of Customs (GAC), through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), has provided a shipment of aid to the Lebanese Customs as a continuation of the humanitarian response by Qatar in the Lebanese Republic following the Beirut Port explosion disaster.
The aid shipment was received by several diplomats at Qatar's embassy in Lebanon, and Lebanese customs officials.
The signing ceremony for the aid handover was attended by Qatar's ambassador to Lebanon Mohammed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber, embassy counselor Ali Al Mutawa, first secretary Ali Al Athba, and second secretary Ahmed Al Obaidli.
From the Lebanese side, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Customs Brigadier Assaad Toufayli, acting director-general of the Lebanon Customs Raymond El Khoury, and head of customs' studies department Khalil Al Khoury attended the ceremony.
Al Jaber reiterated Qatar's support for Lebanon, the continuation of assistance and the completion of projects announced to alleviate the economic and health crisis and support the Lebanese people overcome the ordeals facing their country, especially after the Beirut Port disaster.
The ambassador expressed hope that Lebanon would regain its health and pioneering position thanks to the will of the Lebanese and the assistance of friendly countries.
Brigadier Assaad Toufayli thanked Qatar, represented by QFFD and GAC, stressing that the aid reflects the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries and the spirit of co-operation to overcome the most difficult ordeals, especially after the destruction of the customs administration's offices and equipment as a result of the blast.
He explained that the aid will contribute to supporting and facilitating customs work to improve all its services.
