Birla Public School (BPS) has been declared the winner of THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) Qatar’s 10th annual Global Act with Impact Award (GAIA), securing the first position with a cash prize of QR 3,000.
The GAIA is a competition in which participating teams, representing their school, produce a service project that works towards a United Nations sustainable development goal and the indicators within it. The objective of GAIA is to give students an opportunity to engage with the community and have an impact on it.
BPS's Cups4Change Service Project was organised by 17 young leaders namely; Ghenwa al-Zain, Almas Palikop, Anushka Karkera, Anam Fatimah, Sejal Sanil, Reeva Shah, Aditi Abraham, Srishanth Shetty, Abia Ahmed, Antony Vincent, Abin George, Hana Ansari, Roshni Mohideen, Diya Dileep, Nalini Rajeev, Nafiza Soha and Allen Gladly. The team was supported by BPS Doha’s Eco-Club manager Rakesh Verma and sponsored by EcoSouk, EcoLife, Rimads and the Flying Rooster’s Soap Company.
