A joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles at Al Rayyan Municipality was launched Sunday by the committee concerned, the mechanical equipment department and the General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in co-operation with Al Rayyan Municipality.
Khalid al-Ruwalil, assistant director of municipal control at Al Rayyan Municipality took part in the campaign alongside Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, head of the general control section at Doha Municipality, member of the committee for removing abandoned vehicles, lieutenant Mohamed Jassim al-Tamimi from the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya) and a number of Lekhwiya personnel and municipality employees.
Al-Shahwani pointed out that the campaign is set to last for a month until all the spotted abandoned vehicles within the municipality are removed, considering that Al Rayyan Municipality has a considerable population density.
The official recalled that since January this year the committee has removed around 2,500 vehicles from around the country.
The campaign is part of the efforts of the entities concerned to maintain cleanliness.
