HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie met Sunday with President of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) Alok Sharma, which will be hosted in Glasgow, UK, in November, QNA reported.
During the meeting, they reviewed ways of co-operation in tackling the effects of climate change and its economic, environmental and social dimensions on all countries of the world, which require concerted efforts to confront it and limit its repercussions.
Qatar plays an active role in the international community to confront the phenomenon of climate change. Additionally, it took many measures to develop technologies dealing with climate change, and to encourage and promote green investment activity, and adopt low-carbon economic growth.
In 2019, Qatar contributed $100mn to support small island developing states and least developed countries to deal with climate change, natural hazards and environmental challenges, and to build capacity to counter their devastating effects.
