Under the theme of 'Putting your Future into Perspective', the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will organise the Virtual College Readiness Forum from tomorrow to raise students' awareness about their future study majors and academic paths.
Qatar University, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar, along with 20 international universities and academic institutions, will take part in the event, the ministry has said in a statement.
Moza al-Mudahka, director of the Educational Guidance Department, said "the objectives of the College Readiness Forum are to educate high school students about the various university disciplines they can join and help Grade 10 students choose the academic paths that fit their aptitudes and interests. The event is also an opportunity for grade 11 students to learn about the university admission requirements and what it takes to meet them."
The event will be held virtually via Zoom until March 31, from 4pm to 7pm daily, in co-operation with Injaz Qatar and Oryx Universal College-Liverpool John Moores University.
Al-Mudahka called on parents, academic mentors and Grade 10 and Grade 11 students to make use of the nine-day event activities, which are as follows:
* Majors' Awareness Week: March 23: Engineering and Science Day; March 24: Medical and Healthy Day; March 25: Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Law and Aviation Engineering Day; and March 28: Business Administration, Humanities and Arts Day.
* Local and International University Fair: March 29: Public school female students (in Arabic); March 30: Public school male students (in Arabic); and March 31: Private school students (in English). To access the meeting, click here.
Also, the British University Virtual Fair will be held on April 5 and the US University Virtual Fair on April 6 and 7.
The local and foreign universities and educational institutions involved in the virtual event include: Qatar University, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar, Community College of Qatar, Education City-based universities (Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar and the Academic Bridge Programme), AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, Oryx Universal College-Liverpool John Moores University, Stenden University Qatar, University of Calgary in Qatar, City University College, University Foundation College, military colleges, Qatar National Service, Ministry of Education and Higher Education's Office of Scholarship, Qatar Aeronautical Academy, Ulster University, Lusail University, Qatar Finance and Business Academy and Northumbria University, State University of New York – Adirondack, Arkansas State University, Oxford Brookes University, Aston University, University of Portsmouth, School of Medicine – UCLan, State Audit Bureau, the British Council, the US embassy's Office of Student Relations and the Canadian embassy's Office of Student Relations, the MoEHE said on its website.
