Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation (QF) partner university, recognised 175 students for academic excellence in the fall semester. The CMU-Q Dean's List is released after each semester to formally acknowledge exceptional academic achievement. The university held a socially-distanced ceremony for the students, which was also live-streamed so parents and family members could watch. The Deans List for the fall 2020 semester included 32 first-year students, 47 sophomore students, 36 junior students, and 60 senior students. Students from each of CMU-Q's programs were honoured. Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, addressed the honorees saying, "I congratulate this distinguished group of students for their outstanding academic performance, especially during such a challenging time. Students, these are exceptional times, and I am very proud of each of you who for embracing the challenge, focusing on your learning, and succeeding."
