The Central Board of Secondary Education conducted a session for teachers as part of the second phase of webinars on the Indian National Education Policy (NEP).
DPS-Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) faculty members attended the webinar on YouTube.
Dr Eshwari Prabhakar, principal of DPS Visakhapatnam and resource person of the session, started by explaining the NEP 2020 vision.
She highlighted the salient features of the policy in a detailed manner and discussed its importance.
The main changes in the curriculum and pedagogical structure were emphasised and clearly presented with the help of a chart.
The features of different stages in the structure, i.e. the Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary stages, were given importance and explained with all the details.
The focus on curtailing dropouts and universal access to education was presented as one of the main highlights of NEP 2020.
The resource person also stressed the importance of developing a deep knowledge of India throughout the session.
Dr Prabhakar ended the session by reminding the teachers about their role in implementing the policy, as they are the "ground workers for making any policy function".
At the end of the session, there was a quiz for the teachers and the participants received certificates for the same.
