The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the fishermen affairs section at the Fisheries Department, has conducted a field tour of Ruwais Port, targeting fish stalls and workers aboard fishing vessels and boats.
This was done with the aim of educating and guiding fishermen on the importance of adhering to precautionary measures such as wearing masks and gloves when handling fish, not gathering in one place and maintaining a safe distance with each other, the MME said in a statement.
The tour came in continuation of an awareness programmes carried out by the Fisheries Department since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak.
