Bangladesh ambassador Mohamed Jashim Uddin yesterday met Katara – the Cultural Village general manager Prof Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti and proposed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the latter and the authority concerned in Bangladesh to expand co-operation in the area of art and culture.
It was agreed in the meeting that the Bangladesh embassy and Katara in collaboration with the Bangladesh community would organise events at Katara to mark the Mujib Year and the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh in the coming months, according to a statement from the embassy.
The envoy thanked Prof al-Sulaiti for hosting at Katara a number of events organised by the Bangladesh embassy and the Bangladesh expatriate community in Qatar. Appreciating the world-class facilities available at Katara, the ambassador requested the general manager to facilitate the participation of the Bangladeshi community in events organised from time to time.
The ambassador proposed to sign an MoU between Katara and the authority concerned of Bangladesh to expand co-operation in the area of art and culture.
Highlighting the importance of culture in nurturing bilateral relations, the Bangladesh envoy stressed on the exchange of visits of artists and cultural troupes from both countries. Embassy counsellor (Political and Economic) Mohamed Mahbur Rahman was also present at the meeting.
