The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has stressed that it uses the latest road survey vehicle for purposes such as examining the asphalt layer and discovering surface defects such as cracks, drilling and IRI (international roughness index) testing in an automatic way, as well as carrying out analysis to ensure a high level of road quality.
In a post on Twitter yesterday, Ashghal explained that the vehicle uses laser sensor technology, a device for measuring potholes and depressions, in addition to high-quality 360° cameras, GPS (global positioning system) and a distance measurement system.
Further, the authority said that the vehicle is used in the process of receiving road assets from contractors to ensure their compliance with the standard specifications and their readiness to serve road users.
This will help meet the future requirements of the State related to providing sustainable solutions for the operation and maintenance of roads, Ashghal adds.
