The Music Affairs Centre under the Ministry of Culture and Sports has started the 250th birth anniversary celebrations of legendary German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, by broadcasting a recommissioned performance of *Symphony No 5, on its social media platform.
The broadcast received a high number of views, the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
*Symphony No 5 was put into a new dramatic rendition, where Western and Arabic music were blended, imparting a new perspective to the renowned work.
The scene starts with visuals of the music notation papers of *Symphony No 5 caught up in the air and landing in the Qatari desert, from where they are picked up by three local musicians who play the oud. They perform it over three nights.
The novel concert was presented at a special event at Qatar National Theatre while observing all the necessary precautionary and preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus.
The Music Affairs Centre is set to continue broadcasting other videos in the same way.
