Those who violate the restriction on the number of passengers in a vehicle (four people including driver, but excluding families) will have to pay a minimum fine of QR1,000, Lt Col Saqr Khamis al-Kubaisi, assistant director of the Capital Security Administration, has said.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, the official told radio programme “The Police Are with You”, that after issuing a violation, the violators are arrested, then referred to the Public Prosecution, which imposes a fine on them.
He pointed out that more than 500 people participated in a virtual awareness seminar, organised by the Capital Security Administration, in co-operation with the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, on ‘Crime Prevention and Societal Responsibility’, aimed at educating workers and residents, about precautionary and preventive measures against Covid-19.
The participants included company owners and managers, and officials of human resources, public relations, and administrative affairs and other sections to convey awareness messages in their turn to employees and workers of their companies and various entities.
Lt Col al-Kubaisi explained that the seminar dealt with the penalty for not wearing masks, failure to download the Ehteraz app, violating the requirements of home quarantine, and crimes of theft, street vendors, customs evasion and how the newcomers to the country are exploited in this regard, their lack of knowledge of the local law, and the problem of issuing cheques without balance in the accounts concerned.
