HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali inaugurated the beach tournament for families at Sealine Beach, organised by the Qatar Sports for All Association (QSFA), amid wide participation from the public.
The minister made an inspection tour of the beach football field and the beach volleyball court, and joined the public in a shooting competition.
On this occasion, HE the minister praised the good organisation of the tournament under the auspices and organisation of QSFA, and the bodies supporting the tournament, including the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Natural Reserves Department, the Qatar Volleyball Association, Qatar Football Association and Qatar Shooting Club.
President of QSFA Abdulrahman al-Dosari explained that the beach tournament, organised by QSFA for the first time, aims to providing the youth with good activities and exploiting their energies, especially as it is held simultaneously with the spring vacation, for the benefit of all members of society, as participation is not limited to youth only, but the invitation is for all members of the society to compete in three sports, including beach football, beach volleyball, and shooting.
QSFA emphasises the importance of practising sport and its positive effects on health through its continuous activities and events throughout the year, the last of which was the running race on Friday, al-Dosari added.
He expressed his happiness at the great turnout and the wonderful response to participating in the tournament, as the number of participating teams in beach football reached 10 teams, in addition to the participation of 15 players in shooting competitions, which will be open to registration on an ongoing basis to allow community members to participate and compete.
The president of QSFA stated that the tournament continues for four weeks, and it will be held every Friday after Asr prayer until 9pm. He explained that the organisers implement the precautionary measures in all activities and events in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
“Within the framework of our commitment to all instructions and precautionary measures, we decided to hold the tournament activities in the open air to achieve the maximum benefit and to maintain social distancing,” he explained. He added that the QSFA will participate in the activities of the National Sport Day.
