Mohamed Mubarak al-Kuwari, Chief Marketing Officer at Aspire Zone Foundation, has expressed his joy and happiness at the news that Doha will host the 2030 Asian Games, which was announced by the Olympic Council of Asia yesterday.
He said that in celebration and expression of joy, the logo of the Asian Games will be displayed at Aspire Torch Tower and other display screens across Aspire Park.
However, he said due to the Covid-19 situation and the precautionary measures in place for the protection and safety of all, Aspire has decided not to hold a public celebration.
He pointed out that Doha has great experience hosting major sports events at both the international and regional level. For instance, Qatar hosted the 15th edition of the Games in 2006 and produced an amazing Games that had won the admiration of all. He was confident that Doha will again produce a very high standard edition of the Asian Games in 2030.
In the meantime, he said that Aspire Park is open for all sports lovers as usual but they should maintain all the necessary precautionary measures against Covid-19 as stipulated by the concerned authorities of the country.
“We at Aspire are very happy for such an achievement and we are sure that all the people in the country are very happy and want to celebrate and express their joy. It even coincides with a very dear occasion for us all, which is Qatar National Day and the whole country is in actual festivities,” said al-Kuwari.
“However, the health and safety of all are the top priorities, and people are advised to abide by the related regulations, maintain the required physical distancing and avoid any undesired crowds and gathering. The joy and festivities are there and everybody can express them while maintaining their safety,” he stressed.
Similarly, the Chinese Ambassador to Doha Zhou Jian said on this occasion: “I am more than happy to know that Qatar has won the bid to host Asian Games in 2030. This adds new glory to the National Day of Qatar. On behalf of the Chinese Government and 1.4 billion Chinese people, I wish to extend my sincere congratulations to Qatari Government and the brotherly Qatari people.
“Living in Doha for one-and-a-half years I could see and feel that Qatar is a sport-loving country, with advanced facilities, world-class hospitality, and rich experiences in holding major events. Despite the unprecedented pandemic of this year, Qatar still saw great achievement towards 2022 World Cup.
“With the sweet memory that Qatar impressed the world with the 2006 Asian Games, I firmly believe that Qatar will undoubtedly present the world with another unique and marvellous Asian Games. Wish Doha 2030 a great success!”
