The charge d'affairs of the United States of America to Qatar Greta C Holtz underlined that the United States is honoured to partner with Qatar in promoting security, stability, and prosperity throughout the region and beyond, stressing that the United States and Qatar share a strong belief in justice, freedom, and the strengthening of international peace through diplomatic means, and stand together in support of greater health security for the citizens of both countries and people across the globe.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), the US charge d'affairs underlined that the relations between the United States and Qatar are stronger than ever, and they continue to grow, noting that the 2020 Strategic Dialogue showcased the many fields in which the two countries cooperate, including health, humanitarian assistance, international development, labour, law enforcement, counterterrorism, commerce, culture, and education.
She added that the United States is honoured to partner with Qatar for the 2021 Year of Culture, looking forward to a year-long programme of music, arts, business, and sports exchanges that will further deepen the relationship between the two countries and foster new and lasting friendships among the people of the United States and Qatar.
The charge d'affairs looked forward to building a world safer from infectious disease threats, including Covid-19, which continues to pose a threat to the security and prosperity of the international community, expressing sincere gratitude to Qatar for helping to repatriate US citizens from all corners of the world during the Covid-19 pandemic, and applauded Qatar's generosity in providing humanitarian assistance to countries in need.
On behalf of the US Embassy in Doha, the charge d'affairs offered congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the wise government and the people of Qatar on the National Day.
