Dr. Hamda Hassan Al-Sulaiti, CEO of the Scientific Excellence Award, stated that 374 candidates have submitted their applications to compete for the honour in its fourteenth session in 2021.
In a statement to local Arabic daily Arrayah the official explained that the number of applicants has increased compared to previous sessions, reflecting the high position that the award has established in the Qatari society. The names of the winners are scheduled to be announced at the end of December 2020. The jury includes a group of specialised arbitrators and academics, for each of the award’s nine categories.
The award's categories are students of Elementary, Middle School, and High School, University graduates, holders of Master’s Degree, PhD, Distinguished Teacher, Distinguished School, and the Scientific Research Award.
The Academic Excellence Day Awards, which are held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country are considered the highest academic honour in the State of Qatar every year.
