The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a virtual ceremony, to establish a strategic partnership in the field of international development and humanitarian assistance.
The MoU aims to establish a partnership between QFFD and USAID and foster collaboration that supports sustainable development in third countries. In addition, the MoU further enhances the strategic relationship between Qatar and the US.
Ali Abdulla al-Dabbagh, deputy director general for planning at QFFD and Max Primorac, chief assistant to the acting deputy administrator, USAID, were the signatories. The ceremony was virtually attended by Qatar ambassador in the US, Sheikh Mashal bin Hamad bin Mohamed al-Thani, US charge d’affaires in Qatar, ambassador Greta C Holtz and ambassador Issa bin Mohamed al-Mannai, head of the US department at the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
QFFD said in a statement that the MoU will be the starting point for exploring new mechanisms for co-operation in the international development field through working together with USAID on new projects, which will contribute to changing the lives of the beneficiaries for the better, giving hope and promoting peace and justice through sustainable and inclusive development in less developed countries.
QFFD is always seeking to establish new and strategic partnerships and explore innovative ways to provide innovative and sustainable foreign assistance, as the Fund was able to deliver relief aid and development assistance to more than 100 countries around the world, the statement added.
