Qatar’s embassy in Cote d’Ivoire handed over the support provided by the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs to the African Muslim University in Abidjan.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the handover ceremony, Dr Konate Arna, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the leadership and people of Qatar for the support in order to furnish and develop the university, and praised the Ministry of Awqaf.
He said that the university has become an important link in translating cultural diplomacy between Qatar and Cote d’Ivoire.
For his part, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Cote d’Ivoire praised the co-operation between the two countries, especially with regard to support for private universities, and said that such support would help the university to carry out its mission to the fullest.
For his part, the President of the Supreme Council of Imams, Mosques and Islamic Affairs in Cote d’Ivoire, Sheikh of Imams Mamadou Traore, thanked the government and people of Qatar for their support for the university, and considered that this bid will remain eternal in the history of the Muslim nation in Cote d’Ivoire and in the relations between the two countries.
The President of the African Muslim University, expressed his gratitude and thanks to Qatar for this generous support for the university, which will contribute to advancing the university’s qualification and training.
For his part, Qatar’s ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Jaber bin Jarallah al-Marri, indicated the importance that Qatar attaches to supporting educational projects and giving education priority in development aid.
He said that this support is an example of friendship between Qatar and Cote d’Ivoire, and an affirmation of the strength of bilateral relations.
