Katara - The Cultural Village Foundation and the Ukrainian Amber World Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Wednesday for technical expertise exchange and facilitating exhibitions, workshops and high-level seminars.
Katara director general Dr Khaled bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti and the Ukrainian Amber World Association representative Dr Olga Revina signed the MoU in the presence of Ukrainian ambassador Andriy Kuzmenko.
Dr al-Sulaiti said the MoU will also provide a framework to exchange experiences, information and research. The outputs of the MoU will enhance the distinctive position that Katara has achieved through its annual international amber exhibition, which led it to the first position as an international centre for amber, and a global forum for experts, researchers and manufacturers.
Ambassador Kuzmenko stressed that the MoU provides a new addition to the common culture of the amber sector in which art and traditional crafts are embodied in the manufacture of Masabih (chapelets). The Ukrainian envoy also presented to Dr al-Sulaiti a book on the history of amber in Ukraine.
Dr Revina, noted that the MoU opens a new window for partnership in the amber sector and for participation in events centred on the rarest types of amber, and stressed it will achieve great success in this sector locally and internationally.
