The Qatar Insurance Group, the flagship insurer in Qatar as well as the Middle East and North Africa region, has appointed Hasan al-Lawati as the new chief executive of its subsidiary Oman Qatar Insurance Company (OQIC).
He will drive forward the strategic goals of OQIC and also facilitate its further growth and development in Oman. This step comes in line with QIC Group’s consistent strategic approach, which is aimed at focusing on identifying local talent and empowering them to spearhead key developments within the QIC Group.
"I am confident that Hasan al-Lawati’s years of experience and expertise in the Omani insurance marketplace will drive forward strategic changes and take OQIC to its next phase of anticipated growth and evolution,” said group chief executive of QIC Group, Salem al-Mannai (pictured).
In his 11 years’ of experience, al-Lawati has amassed significant experience of working in the insurance industry, from underwriting, and risk management to broking.
An industry veteran, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) in the UK, he is also a member of the board of the Oman Insurance Association (OIA) and the Finance and Insurance Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce.
