The second phase of repatriation of stranded Indians from Qatar got under way Monday with the departure of flight IX 0374 for Kozhikode, carrying 183 passengers.
Informing this on its Twitter page, the Indian embassy said, "We thank the Qatari authorities for their continued support in clearing passenger lists speedily and for other assistance provided."
The embassy also tweeted an updated list of flights for Phase 2 of the Indian government's Vande Bharat repatriation mission from Qatar. "These are flights already scheduled for the next few days and for which the passengers have been selected and ticketed. We now await approvals from Delhi for the next set of flights to more destinations," it said.
According to the list, the destinations of the upcoming repatriation flights from Doha are: Kannur, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Kochi, Bengaluru and Gaya (with technical halt in Delhi).
The flights will be operated by Air India and Air India Express.
On Tuesday, flight IX 0774 is scheduled to leave Doha at 6.40pm and reach Kannur at 1.25am the next day.
Two flights will be operated Wednesday. Flight AI 1924 will depart from Doha at 12 noon and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 7.15pm, while flight IX 0244 will leave Doha at 1pm and reach Hyderabad at 7.50pm.
Then, on May 21, flight IX 0476 will depart from Doha at 2.05pm and reach Kochi at 8.45pm.
After that, flight IX 0822 is scheduled to leave Doha on May 22 at 1.30pm and arrive in Bengaluru at 8.05pm.
On May 24, the last flight of Phase 2 - AI 972 - will depart from Doha at 6pm and arrive in Gaya in the early hours of the following day. This flight will have a short technical halt in Delhi for crew change and refuelling. "No disembarkation of passengers there," the embassy clarified.
The Indian mission had recently said they are continuing “to make efforts to schedule flights to destinations such as Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, in the coming weeks”.
“Please ensure that you put in your registration and get a confirmation in time, so that we will be able to get the fairest possible list of passengers,” the embassy had tweeted.
Two flights carrying a total of 359 passengers were operated from Qatar in Phase 1 of the repatriation mission. The first flight left for Kochi on May 9, while the second one departed for Thiruvananthapuram on May 12.
