Primary Health Care Corp (PHCC) will host the 4th International Primary Healthcare Conference on February 19-22 with more than 800 delegates from a number of countries. “The conference aims at exploring the impact of effective leadership and governance in the healthcare system and review the development of clinical practices, updates and breakthroughs,” Dr Mariam Abdul Malek, managing director of PHCC told a press conference yesterday.
PHCC Corporate Communications executive director Huda al-Wahedi, Administration & Corporate Services assistant managing director Musallam Mubarak al-Nabit, and Clinical Affairs executive director Dr Hanan al-Mujalli were also present.
“The theme of the 2020 conference is ‘A Foundation set for Significance’. Topics covered in the programme include health promotion, disease prevention, integrated healthcare models, innovation and creativity in healthcare settings, quality, risk and safety, best practices in medical education and capacity building, as well as exchange of experiences and expertise of best practices through associated exhibitions and workshops,” explained Dr Malek.
A number of countries are expected to take part in the conference with the participation of worldwide primary healthcare leaders.
The conference will present 60 research papers covering a wide range of subjects with participation from countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia as well as leading experts in the field of healthcare from Qatar.
“It will discuss health promotion and disease prevention within the framework of primary healthcare and explore the development, significant reforms and broader challenges faced when implementing an integrated model of care to a health system. It also reflects PHCC’s commitment to innovations and creativity in healthcare settings,” noted Dr Malek.
Al-Nabit said that Hamad Medical Corp (HMC), Qatar University, Qatar Biobank and QNB have extended their support for the conference reflecting their commitment in supporting the development of the health sector in Qatar, specifically primary care. He also said that several key stakeholders will participate in the accompanying exhibition of the conference.
“The four-day conference will discuss 60 local and global papers. PHCC has followed scientific criteria and methodology to identify the themes of the conference, in order to maximise the benefit of international experiences in the medical field. The conference will bring participation from countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, and Jordan. At the local level, participants include doctors from PHCC, the Ministry of Public Health, HMC, Qatar University, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, Sidra Medicine and Calgary College of Nursing,” added, Dr al-Mujalli.
